As the namesake of our historic neighborhood and surrounding 30-acre park, Lafayette’s legacy of courage, partnership, and passion for freedom serves as the spirit behind our 1876 Victorian inn.

A Legacy of Freedom & Style

When a young Marquis de Lafayette crossed the Atlantic in 1777 to join George Washington’s ranks, his military leadership and devotion to the cause of liberty earned him a legendary place in American history. Decades later, during his triumphant 1824–1825 grand tour of the United States, Lafayette captured the hearts of the nation. In his honor, St. Louis designated Lafayette Square as the city’s very first public park in 1836, sparking the growth of the stunning Victorian neighborhood you see today.

Stepping into The Lafayette Room means connecting directly to this rich heritage. Thoughtfully designed to blend noble, classic aesthetics with modern comfort, the suite serves as an inviting sanctuary within our historic home. Surrounded by refined architectural details, high ceilings, and rich textures, it offers the perfect backdrop to reflect on history after a day spent exploring the cobblestone sidewalks, historic homes, and lively local cafes of Lafayette Square.

Located on the second floors for ultimate privacy, the Lafayette Room offers a spacious, light-filled getaway designed for quiet evenings and restful mornings.

• Sleeping Arrangements: Unwind in a comfortable queen-size bed dressed in soft linens. For a third guest, a fold-up cot can easily be provided upon request.
• In-Suite Amenities: Complete with a private en-suite bathroom, flat-screen TV, dedicated coffee bar, microwave, and mini-fridge for your favorite drinks or snacks.

You’ll find historical newspapers, vintage letters, classic postcards, authentic artifacts, and artwork—each piece accompanied by written descriptions so you can explore history at your own pace.
• Grand Dining Room & Kitchen: Enjoy full access to a sunlit dining hall adorned with a crystal chandelier, custom millwork, and a warm hearth, as well as a fully equipped kitchen.
