The Napoleon Room

Perched gracefully on the third floor beneath the mansion’s historic mansard roof, The Napoleon Room offers a romantic, sprawling retreat infused with imperial elegance and cozy architectural charm. The mansard roofline gives this expansive suite its distinctive, intimate character, featuring angled alcoves, soft natural light, and quiet views over the neighborhood treetops.

Designed for luxury and relaxation, the suite features a dedicated, light-filled living room with a plush sofa, seating options, a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge, and a coffee setup. Adjoining the lounge is a private bedroom anchored by a plush queen bed and timeless wooden furnishings, along with a pristine ensuite bathroom.

A Touch of History

The room honors Napoleon Bonaparte, whose bold ambitions reshaped world history and left an indelible mark on the American West. In 1803, Napoleon famously brokered the Louisiana Purchase, selling over 800,000 square miles of territory to the United States—a vast expanse of land that included present-day Missouri.

Napoleon’s story was also intertwined with General Marquis de Lafayette, the French hero of the American Revolution for whom our historic Lafayette Square neighborhood is named. While Lafayette famously championed liberty and constitutional rights, he held a complex, often tense relationship with Napoleon, standing firm for democratic ideals during Bonaparte's rule. Today, their shared legacy connects our 1876 Victorian inn directly to the grand Franco-American history that defined St. Louis and shaped the nation.

  • Sleeping Arrangements: Unwind in a comfortable queen-size bed dressed in soft linens. For a third and fourth guest, the couch converts to a futon.
